There’s a lot to be said about guilt.
There’s a lot to be said about skin in the game.
There’s a lot to be said for the reasons that we do the actions we do, the reasons that we do our work.
And to be honest, there’s something about having someone out there who you’re worried about letting down.
That can be a coach, that can be a friend or a partner, but it can also be an accountability partner.
Someone who you check in with once a week or once a month to make sure that you’re doing the things you’re supposed to do.
And maybe the part of the reason you do the thing that you need to do is guilt.
Perhaps the reason you do the thing you need to do is because you paid somebody money.
Or even more motivating in some cases you’ve said, “I’m going to pay money if I don’t do this thing.”
And that’s okay.
I love meeting accountability partners.
I love connecting with them.
Scheduling monthly calls.
I love when I get to go to live events and meet these people in-person.
It ends up helping me so much to do what I need to do, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities to meet these folks in-person at conferences.
And I know it’s great to connect with accountability partners online. Super convenient.
But every so often you need a hug, you need a handshake, you need to look this person in the eye and you need to say, “I’m going to do what I tell you I’m going to do.”
