I know that I’m not perfect by any way, shape, or form.
And I’ve made a few big mistakes on the Amazon ad platform, to be sure.
One of ’em, man, I lost some money trying to bid too high.
Too high, too fast, rushing into things.
There’s a time and place to bid over 40 cents on Amazon.
There honestly is, but for most of us when we’re starting out, it doesn’t make sense.
Because you’re not likely to make a profit, especially if you’re
not advertising a book that’s like the first in a series of 20 where you know you’re going to get all this read-through.
Another mistake I’ve made, you can actually select a ton of campaigns at once, like up to 300 campaigns at once and make changes.
You can change the end date, the bid, or change whatever you want.
And in doing one of those Select Alls, I actually turned on some campaigns that had really high bids.
So it keeps coming back to those high bids.
I shouldn’t have done that.
I lost some money on that and had some bad ad days.
So be careful when you are selecting all.
And I would say the third big mistake is trying to treat the Ad Dashboard like Set It and Forget It.
And since nothing in marketing is actually Set It and Forget It…
I forgot about some of the things I was doing and some of the ads that were profitable went stale.
Some of the ads that were spending more caused me to lose money.
So, don’t do those three things if you want to turn a higher profit on Amazon.
