I realize that author conferences can be expensive.
When you consider the ticket to the event, the airfare, the hotel, and then just feeding yourself while you are there, it can get a little bit hairy.
But I have some tips and tricks here from the author conferences that I’ve gone to.
Let’s start small.
When I am at the town the event is being staged in, I look up the closest regular grocery store.
Somewhere I can get a giant water bottle for a lot cheaper than I can get at the vending machine.
Or where I can stock up on snacks, so that I’m not spending $3 on a PowerBar or something like that.
When it comes to airfare, all year round I use credit cards to pay for groceries and business expenses that earn me airline miles.
Of course, I pay those off every single month, so that there’s no interest.
Then I use those points to fly to conferences.
I use those points for vacations for my family.
So, if you use those kinds of cards for running ads or for doing other book expenses, you can save money there.
Lastly, the invention of Airbnb has been so helpful for saving money.
If you can find a couple other attendees going to the event, share an Airbnb.
You can usually stay somewhere close for less than $100 a night.
So, I hope those tips are helpful when you are going to your next author conference.
